The Best Mocha Whipped Cream Frosting is the perfect blend of coffee, chocolate and whipped cream. Perfect for when you need a frosting lighter than buttercream but still want that delicious Mocha taste.

Mocha Lattes are delicious. Mocha desserts are delicious. Mocha Frosting is delicious. We took the same great flavors of Coffee and Chocolate that we used in our popular The Best Mocha Buttercream Frosting and used them to flavor our light and delicious Whipped Cream Frosting.  Our The Best Mocha Whipped Cream frosting is everything we had hoped for and more.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Use Instant Coffee to add flavor to the whipped cream

Instant Coffee is the key to the coffee flavor in our Mocha frosting. We like these Starbucks French Roast Instant Coffee packets which you can find in most grocery stores in the coffee aisle.  To make sure the coffee flavor stands up alongside the chocolate you need start with a robust coffee.  After much trial and error we found that this French Roast worked perfectly.  Pour the entire instant coffee packet into the whipped cream.

Add Hershey's Unsweetened Chocolate to the Whipping Cream

Now add the Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa Powder.

Mix until dissolved

Mix the Instant Coffee and Cocoa Powder until it is thoroughly combined and the coffee and chocolate have dissolved.  If you are having problems getting the lumps out, refrigerate the mixture for a bit and give the powders a chance to dissolve.

Ingredients for The Best Mocha Whipped Cream Frosting

Once the Mocha Whipping Cream mixture is smooth and completely mixed, gather your other ingredients: a box of White Chocolate Pudding and 1/3 cup of Powdered Sugar.

Mix on high and until soft peaks form. and then add the powdered sugar. Continue to mix on high.

Add the White Chocolate Pudding to the whipped cream

Just before you get to stiff peaks add the White Chocolate Pudding mix.  Lower to a slow speed and continue to mix the whipping cream and the pudding.

When the Mocha Whipped Cream Frosting starts to come together, stop the mixer and scrape down the sides.  Also check to make sure the pudding hasn’t clumped on the bottom. Fold the mixture a couple of times with a spoon.  Turn the mixer back on for just a few revolutions.  DO NOT OVER MIX or you will end up with mocha butter!  If the frosting gets too thick add a little bit of milk 1 teaspoon at a time.

How much frosting will you need?  That always depends on how thick or thin you apply the frosting or how much decorating you do but here are a couple of guidelines. Our recipe should make enough The Best Mocha Whipped Cream Frosting to cover a 9″ x 13″ sheet cake or a two-layer 8″ cake.  If you are making cupcakes, you should be able to frost 24 cupcakes if you apply the frosting with a knife.  If you swirl on the frosting with a pastry bag like we have done here, you should be able to frost 15-18 cupcakes depending on the size of the swirl.
