Ingredients You Will Need

All the ingredients you will need to make Over the Rainbow Flower Pretzel Bites including M&M's, Pretzels and Candy Melts.

Preparing the M&M’s

We used all the colors of M&M’s for these pretzel bites. The Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue M&M’s are from the regular bag of M&M’s that you can find in any grocery store. We also used purple and white M&M’s which you can find at party stores, online on Amazon and from the M&M website.

How to Make the Pretzel Bites

Steps 1-2: For the pretzels, we like to use the square “snaps” or the round “waffle” pretzels because we think they hold the melted chocolate with less dripping but you could make Mini Pretzels work too if that is all you can find at the grocery store.  First, place 7-8 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate. Cover the pretzels with a Wilton Candy Melt. Place the paper plate in the microwave and heat for approximately 45-50 seconds. You want the candy melts to be melted enough to press the M&M’s into but not too melty or the M&M’s will not stay in place.  The exact time in the microwave will depend on how many pretzel/candy you do at one time, how powerful your microwave is, the type of pretzels you are using, etc.  For us, 7-8 pretzels snaps take 50 seconds to melt to the right consistency.

Steps 3-10: Start by pressing a White M&M down in the center of the melted candy melt.  Now create the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M’s – we used six M&M’s for the petals.

We created six different color versions of the Over the Rain Flower Pretzel Bites – one for every color in the Rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. Let them cool for a couple of hours so that the White Chocolate fully sets up and the M&M’s are firmly attached to the pretzels.

Storage Instructions

A batch of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple Over the Rainbow Flower Pretzel Bites arranged in rows in the shape of a Rainbow.

You can store Pretzel Bites in an air-tight container for a very long time so this is a great make-ahead party food.  Your goal is simply to keep the Pretzels from getting stale, the chocolate and M&M’s will be fine for a long time.  We have kept them in a container in the pantry for weeks and they still taste great.  You can freeze them but we don’t recommend it. Sometimes, during the defrosting process, the M&M’s lose their shiny coat.

Brighten up your celebration with Rainbow Flower Pretzel Bites! Perfect for Pride, birthdays, or pool parties. Sweet, salty, colorful, and so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Rold Gold Waffle Pretzels or Hanover Pretzel Snaps
  • 1 bag Ghirardelli White Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 2 bags Regular M&M’s Candies
  • 1 bag White M&M’s Candies

Instructions

      1. Arrange 8 to 9 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate.
      2. Place a candy melt in the center of each pretzel.
      3. Place the plate of pretzels in the microwave and heat them until the candy melts are at the beginning stage of being melted. They should be soft to the touch and melted enough to press a M&M down into it but not so melty that the candy is running off the pretzel. (Approximately 50 seconds.)
      4. Using Rainbow colored and White colored M&M's, place a white M&M in the center of the melted candy melt for the flower center.
      5. Now press in the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M's - we used six M&M's for the petals.
      6. Let the white chocolate on the Flower Pretzel Bites fully cool and harden back up before you move them.
      7. Store in an air-tight container.
