My husband LOVES chocolate covered bananas. I don’t quite get it. They are fine, but his love knows no bounds. When I talked to Laurie about it, we figured we would try recreating this amusement park staple. We thought it can’t be hard, and we were right. This ended up being a fairly straight forward process with lots of room for embellishments. I am happy to say my husband wasn’t disappointed. He loved our Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas.
How to make Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas
You will need:
- Ghirardelli Chocolate Melting Wafers or Chocolate Chips
- Wilton Candy Melts – Red
- Wilton Candy Melts – Royal Blue
- Wilton Candy Melts – Bright White
- Lollipop Sticks
- 4th of July Sprinkles and Red White and Blue Sprinkles
Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas are very easy to make. You’ll start with bananas, chocolate melting wafers and lollipop sticks.
Peel the bananas and then cut them in half.
Place each banana piece on a lollipop stick.
Freeze the bananas for at least two hours.
Melt Ghirardelli Chocolate Melting Wafers or Chocolate Chips in the microwave and then use a spoon to cover the frozen banana with the melted chocolate.
If you are going to decorate your Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas with sprinkles, add the sprinkles before the chocolate hardens. If you want to drizzle on candy melts, place the chocolate covered frozen bananas back in the freezer until the chocolate is completely hardened.
For the candy drizzle, place 15 Wilton Royal Blue, Red and Bright White Candy Melts in a Ziploc bags. Place the plastic bags in the microwave. We started at 40 seconds, took out the bags and massage the candy and then microwaved them again in 10 second increments until the candy melts were fully melted.
Once the candy was melted, we cut the tip off the bag and drizzled the candy over the frozen bananas. Make sure you only cut the very very tip of the bag. You only want a small hole to give yourself more control over the drizzle.
Place the decorated Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas back in the freezer until you are ready to serve them.
If you have Frozen Bananas’ lovers in your family, you no longer have to indulge their passions only at amusement parks and county fairs. Make them a batch of our Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas an let the compliments roll in!
