Ingredients You Will Need

All the ingredients you will need to make Patriotic Flower Pretzel Bites including 4th of July M&M's, Pretzel Snaps and White Candy Melts.

How to Make Flower Pretzel Bites

White plate sitting on a white table filled with pretzel snaps covered with White Melting Chocolate Wafers.

Step 1: We like to use the square Pretzel Snaps when making Pretzel Bites but you can also use the regular mini pretzels.  First, place 7-8 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate. Cover the pretzels with a Wilton Candy Melt. Place the paper plate in the microwave and heat for approximately 45-50 seconds. The exact timing will take a bit of trial and error.  You want the candy melts to be melted enough to press the M&M’s into, but not so melted that the candy melt loses its’ shape.  In the picture above you can see that the white candy melts have a sheen to them – this is what they look like when they are the melted the perfect amount.  The exact time in the microwave will depend on how many pretzel/candy you do at one time, how powerful your microwave is, the type of pretzels you are using, etc.  For us, 7-8 pretzels snaps take 50 seconds to melt to the right consistency.

Step 2: For the Patriotic Flower Pretzel Bites we used the special Red White and Blue Holiday Blend bag of M&M’s. The Holiday M&M’s usually start being available in stores around Memorial Day.  You can also get a bag of white M&M’s at party stores like Party City and online on Amazon. The Patriotic Flower Pretzel Bites are very easy to assemble.  Start by pressing an M&M down in the center of the melted candy melt.  Now create the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M’s – we used six M&M’s for the petals.  And remember to place the “M” side down!
Step 3: We created coordinated colored versions of the Patriotic Pretzel Bites – Red with a White center, and White with a Red Center, and Blue with a White Center.

Step 4:  Allow the pretzels to set out for a couple of hours so that the Candy Melts could fully set before you store them in an air-tight container.  They will last for a very long time in an air-tight container.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Hanover Pretzel Snaps
  • 1 bag Ghirardelli White Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 1 bag Red White and Blue Holiday Blend M&M Candies

Instructions

  1. Arrange 8 to 9 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate.
  2. Place a candy melt in the center of each pretzel.
  3. Place the plate of pretzels in the microwave and heat them until the candy melts are at the beginning stage of being melted. They should be soft to the touch and melted enough to press a M&M down into it but not so melty that the candy is running off the pretzel. (Approximately 50 seconds.)
  4. Using Red, White and Blue colored M&M's, place a single M&M in the center of the melted candy melt for the flower center.
  5. Now press in the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M's - we used six M&M's for the petals.
  6. Let the Patriotic Flower Pretzel Bites fully set up.
  7. Store in an air-tight container.
