Ingredients You Will Need

About the M&M’s

We used Yellow, Orange and White M&M’s to replicate the colors of a field of Daisies. You can pull the Yellow and Orange M&M’s out of a regular bag of M&M’s. A bag of White M&M’s can be purchased straight from the M&M website or on Amazon. You can also find white M&M’s in the Valentine’s and 4th of July M&M’s holiday mixes. (White M&M’s are handy to have around because there are many holidays where these White M&M’s are a great contrasting color.)
How to Make the Flower Pretzel Bites

Step 1: Arrange 8 or 9 pretzels on a microwave safe plate. Timing is crucial in this process and you don’t want to melt the chocolate on too many pretzels at one time or by the time you get to the 15th pretzel, the chocolate will have hardened back up and you won’t be able to press in the M&M’s. We have found that 8-9 is a good number. For the pretzels, we like to use the square “snaps” or the round “waffle” pretzels because we think they hold the melted chocolate with less dripping but you could make Mini Pretzels work too if that is all you can find at the grocery store.
Step 2: Place a candy melt in the center of the pretzel. Then place the plate of pretzels in the microwave and heat them until the candy melts are at the beginning stage of being melted – they should be soft to the touch and melted enough to press a M&M down into it but not so melty that the candy is running off the pretzel. In our microwave, it took a plate of 9 pretzels 40 seconds to get to this point. [Tip: You can also use your oven for the candy melting process — place the pretzels and candy melts on a cookie sheet covered with aluminum foil and heat in a very low oven (200-250 degrees) for a couple of minutes until the candy is melted.]
We used to recommend that you use Wilton Candy Melts but in the last few years Wilton decreased the size of the candy melts and now they are too small to hold all the M&M petals now. So we have switched to the Ghirardelli White Chocolate Melting Wafers, which you can find in the grocery store in the baking aisle. The Ghirardelli wafers are on the small size too but if you are careful and don’t let them get too melted, they will work.

Steps 3-10: Using Yellow, Orange and White M&M’s, place a single M&M in the center of the melted candy melt for the flower center. Now create the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M’s – we used six M&M’s for the petals.

Here are all of the different color combinations we used for our Daisy Flower Pretzel Bites. So very pretty! Let them cool for a couple of hours so that the White Chocolate fully sets up and the M&M’s are firmly attached to the pretzels.
Storage Instructions

You can store Pretzel Bites in an air-tight container for a very long time so this is a great make-ahead party food. Your goal is simply to keep the Pretzels from getting stale, the chocolate and M&M’s will be fine for a long time. We have kept them in a container in the pantry for weeks and they still taste great. You can freeze them but we don’t recommend it. Sometimes, during the defrosting process, the M&M’s lose their shiny coat.

Adorable! Love this idea for our girl scout “daisy” troop. Thanks for sharing 🙂
These are so cute! How fragile are they? Would they survive in a clear cello bag? Want to make them for our children at church to give to their moms. Would they survive the trip home with the kids?
They didn’t seem fragile. The marshmallows are flexible. I think they would be fine.
