How to make Marshmallow Mixture for the Rice Krispie Treats

The base for our Rice Krispie Bites is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted.  You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.

How to Make Red Rice Krispie Treat Bites

First, make a 3 Cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Mini Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal).  Add the food coloring BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To create this shade of Red we used our Wilton Color Right Food coloring in the following combination:

8 Drops of Crimson
1 Drop of Red
1/2 Drop of Brown

Allow the Red Rice Krispie Treat mixture to cool enough so you can handle it but that it is still malleable.  To get Rice Krispie Bites that were the same sized I measured .5 oz. of the mixture on my food scale and then used by hands to roll it into a ball. If the mixture is too sticky, rub your fingers with some butter.  I was able to make 18 Rice Krispie Treat Bites from this 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.

How to Make White Krispie Treat Bites

For the white Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as listed above but do not add any food coloring into the Rice Krispie Treat mixture.

How to Make Gold Rice Krispie Bites

For the Gold Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as outline above but add 5 drops of Yellow and 1 drop of Orange Food Coloring to the marshmallow mixture BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal.
