The base for our Grinch Rice Krispie Bites is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted.  You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.

How to Color the Rice Krispie Mixture

Step 2: First, make a 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Mini Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal).  Add the food coloring BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To create this shade of Grinch Green we used our Wilton Color Right Food coloring in the following combination:

  • 4 Drops of Yellow
  • 1 Drops of Blue

Step 3: Allow the Grinch Green Rice Krispie Treat mixture to cool enough so you can handle it but that it is still malleable.  To get Rice Krispie Bites that were the same sized I measured .5 oz. of the mixture on my food scale and then used my hands to roll it into a ball. If the mixture is too sticky, rub your fingers with some butter.  I was able to make 18 Rice Krispie Treat Bites from this 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.
Step 4: Once you have created the Rice Krispie Treat ball – press a large Heart Sprinkle into the ball.  I used my hands to mold the Rice Krispie Treat mixture around the heart.
Step 5: If the Rice Krispie Treat mixture is still warm when you press on the Heart, when the Grinch Rice Krispie Bite cools the Heart Sprinkle will stay put.
