I am married to a teacher.  A lot of my friends are teachers.  I think the one thing I can say with a great deal of certainty is that they get a lot of stuff with apples on it … too much stuff.  I get it.  What says “teacher gift” better than an apple?  That’s why we think these Apple Pretzel Bites are brilliant.  They take the fun of the “apple for the teacher” and turn it into a delicious bite-sized snack that would fit perfectly into a fun tin.  Attach a gift card and you have the perfect teacher gift!

Ingredients You Will Need

You will need M&M Mini’s to make our Apple Pretzel Bites for the Teacher, regular M&M’s are too big for this project.   First step, pull out all the Red and Green Mini M&M’s from the bag. In the bag that we used there were enough of each color to make 20-30 Apple Pretzel Bites.

How to Assemble the Pretzel Bites

Step 1:  We like to use the square Pretzel Snaps when making Pretzel Bites but you can also use the regular mini pretzels.  First, place 7-8 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate. Cover the pretzels with a Wilton Chocolate Melt (you can also use a Hershey’s Kiss.)  Heat in a microwave oven for approximately 45-50 seconds. The exact timing will take a bit of trial and error.  You want the candy melts to be melted enough to press the M&M’s onto, but not so melted that the candy melt loses its’ shape.  The exact time in the microwave will depend on how many pretzel/candy’s you do at one time, how powerful your microwave is, the type of pretzels you are using, etc.  For us, 7-8 pretzels take 50 seconds to melt to the right consistency.
Step 2:  Once the candy melts are softened, a red Mini M&M in the center of the candy melt.
Step 3: Add another red M&M directly below the first one.
Step 4:  Add a third and fourth M&M direction to the right of the center row.

Steps 5-6: Add the the first row of red M&M’s.
Steps 7-8:  Add two green Mini M&M’s as the Apple Stem.  Allow the pretzel bite to cool and the candy melt to harden before storing them.
