The base for our St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Bites is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
First, make a 3 Cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Mini Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal). Add the food coloring BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To create the darker shade of Green we used our Wilton Color Right Food coloring in the following combination:
6 Drops of Yellow
3 Drops of Blue
Allow the green Rice Krispie Treat mixture to cool enough so you can handle it but that it is still malleable. To get Rice Krispie Bites that were the same sized I measured .5 oz. of the mixture on my food scale and then used by hands to roll it into a ball. If the mixture is too sticky, rub your fingers with some butter. I was able to make 18 Rice Krispie Treat Bites from this 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.
For the white Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as outline above but do not add any food coloring to the marshmallow mixture.
For the bright green Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as listed above. We got this pretty color of green by using the following amounts of Wilton Color Right Food Coloring;
6 Drops of Yellow
1 Drop of Blue
Allow the St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Bites to cool before you store them. This is a great St. Patrick’s Day treat and you can make it well ahead. Rice Krispie Treats freeze up great in an air-tight container.
St. Patrick’s Day Rice Krispie Treat Bites are so fun and colorful and delicious.
