The base for our Red White and Blue Rice Krispie Bites is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
You will need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture to get Red White and Blue Rice Krispie Bites.
First, make a 3 Cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Mini Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal). Add the food coloring BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal. To create this shade of Red we used our 8 drops of Crimson Wilton Color Right Food coloring, 1 drop of Red Food Coloring and 1/2 Drop of Brown Food Coloring. Allow the Red Rice Krispie Treat mixture to cool enough so you can handle it but that it is still malleable. To get Rice Krispie Bites that were the same sized I measured .5 oz. of the mixture on my food scale and then used by hands to roll it into a ball. If the mixture is too sticky, rub your fingers with some butter. I was able to make 18 Rice Krispie Treat Bites from this 3 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.
For the white Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as outlined above but don’t add any food coloring to the marshmallow mixture.
For the blue Rice Krispie Treat Bites, follow the directions as outline above but add 8 drops of Blue Wilton Color Right Food Coloring and 2 drops of Red to the marshmallow mixture BEFORE you add the Rice Krispie Cereal.
Allow the Red White and Blue Rice Krispie Bites to cool before you store them. This is a great Patriotic treat and you can make it well ahead. Rice Krispie Treats freeze up great in an air-tight container.
You can even display them at your party in the shape of an American Flag!
Red White and Blue Rice Krispie Treat Bites are so fun and colorful and delicious – we guarantee that your family will love them!
