The base for our Pumpkin Rice Krispie Cake is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
You will need to make two batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture- one in orange and one with no food coloring. For detailed instructions on how to make the Rice Krispie Treat mixture, check out our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe. I added the orange food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE adding the Rice Krispie Cereal.
4 Cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (4 Tbsp. Butter/4 Cups Marshmallows/4 Cups Cereal)
6 Drops of Orange Food Coloring
Press the orange Rice Krispie Treat mixture into the pumpkin cookie cutter.
Stack the Orange Rice Krispie Treat pumpkins and set them aside for now.
Create enough pumpkins until they fill a 9×5″ loaf pan as shown in the picture above. We needed eight pumpkins.
Make up your second batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture. We needed an 7 cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (7 Tbsp. Butter/7 Cups Marshmallows/7 Cups Cereal). The amount you need will depend on how big the pumpkin cookie cutter you used was and how big the loaf pan is.
Butter the loaf pan before you begin assembling the cake.
While the Rice Krispie Treat mixture is still warm, press some of mixture into the loaf pan to about the 1″ mark.
Build a row out of the Orange Rice Krispie Treat Hearts that is the exact length of the loaf pan. Press some of the green Rice Krispie Treat mixture along the top of the heart “tube”. You want to fill in the space between the rounded top edges of the pumpkin.
Place the pumpkin tube top side down into the loaf pan. The pumpkin stem should be pointing down.
Start filling in around the pumpkin tube with the Rice Krispie Treat mixture until it is completely covered and you have reached the top of the loaf pan.
Finally, we build up the top of the loaf pan with the remaining Rice Krispie Treat mixture so all of the pumpkin was covered.
We wanted a little something special on the top of the Pumpkin Rice Krispie Cake so we created some orange, black and white candy drizzle with Wilton Candy Melts. We placed the candy melts into separate plastic bags and melted them in the microwave (about 40 seconds for us.) Cut off a tiny corner of the plastic sandwich bags and then drizzle the melted candy mixture on to the top of the cake one color at a time.
So pretty and so yummy! Everyone at your Halloween Party will want a slice.
Our Halloween Rice Krispie Cake is so pretty on both the inside and the outside! This is a great dessert idea for any Halloween party (or maybe even a Fall Bake Sale.) It is easy to transport and easy to serve and who doesn’t love Rice Krispie Treats?
