The base for our Patriotic Rice Krispie Cake is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
You need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture in Red White and Blue. For detailed instructions on how to make the Rice Krispie Treat mixture, check out our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe. I added the food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE adding the Rice Krispie Cereal. We used the Red, Pink and Blue food coloring from the Wilton Color Right Food Coloring system in the following amounts:
2 1/2 Cup of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (2 .5 Tbsp. Butter/2.5 Cups Marshmallows/2.5 Cups Cereal)
4 Drops of Red Food Coloring
3 1/2 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3.5 Tbsp. Butter/3.5 Cups Marshmallows/3.5 Cups Cereal)
No Food Coloring
4 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (4 Tbsp. Butter/4 Cups Marshmallows/4 Cups Cereal)
8 drops of Blue Food Coloring/2 drops of Pink Food Coloring/1 drop of Red Food Coloring (Note: This is the combination I used to get this pretty dark blue color. I added the pink and red to counteract the yellow from the Rice Krispie cereal. If you just use only Blue food coloring, your blue layer will probably be more aqua than American Flag blue.)
Make the different Red White and Blue Rice Krispie Treat mixtures one at a time so they are still warm when you press the mixture into the bundt pan. Start with the red and spoon the mixture into a buttered bundt pan.
Press down the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into the pan so that the layer is even and flat.
Now make the “white” Rice Krispie Treat mixture (the one with no food coloring) and layer it into the bundt pan.
Now add the blue final later. That’s all there is to making this Patriotic Rice Krispie Cake. It couldn’t be easier.
Allow the Rice Krispie Treat layers to cool and then turn your Patriotic Rice Krispie Cake out onto a cake plate.
So pretty and so yummy! Everyone at your 4th of July party will want a slice.
