Ingredients You Will Need

All the ingredients you will need to make Harvest Flower Pretzel Bites including Hanover Pretzel Snaps, Chocolate Candy Melts and Fall colored M&M's.

For the Harvest Flower Pretzel Bites, we used the special Harvest Blend bag of M&M’s and some Orange M&M’s from a regular bag.   The Harvest M&M’s usually start being available in stores around mid-September and we’ve seen them all the way through Thanksgiving.  The Harvest-colored M&M’s have a special gold color and a darker red and brown.  If you can’t find those, just pull out the Red, Yellow, Orange and Brown M&M’s from a regular bag of M&M’s.

How to Make the Pretzel Bites

Collage image showing the steps for applying the colored M&M's to the Pretzel Snaps.

Step 1: We like to use the square Pretzel Snaps when making Pretzel Bites but you can also use the regular mini pretzels.  First, place 7-8 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate. Cover the pretzels with a Wilton Candy Melt. Place the paper plate in the microwave and heat for approximately 45-50 seconds. The exact timing will take a bit of trial and error.  You want the candy melts to be melted enough to press the M&M’s into, but not so melted that the candy melt loses its’ shape.  In the picture above you can see that the dark cocoa candy melts have a sheen to them – this is what they look like when they are they are melted just the right amount.  The exact time in the microwave will depend on how many pretzel/candy’s you do at one time, how powerful your microwave is, the type of pretzels you are using, etc.  For us, 7-8 pretzels snaps take 50 seconds to melt to the right consistency.
Steps 2-4: Start by lightly pressing an M&M down in the center of the melted candy melt.  Now create the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M’s – we used six M&M’s for the petals.  And remember to place the “M” side down!

Step 5: We created coordinated colored versions of the Harvest Flower Pretzel Bites – Dark Brown with a Gold center, Orange with a Gold center, Dark Red with a Gold Center, and Orange with a Brown Center.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Hanover Pretzel Snaps
  • 1 bag Ghirardelli White Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 1 bag Harvest Blend M&M Candies/Regular M&M's

Instructions

  1. Arrange 8 to 9 Pretzel Snaps on a paper plate.
  2. Place a candy melt in the center of each pretzel.
  3. Place the plate of pretzels in the microwave and heat them until the candy melts are at the beginning stage of being melted. They should be soft to the touch and melted enough to press a M&M down into it but not so melty that the candy is running off the pretzel.  (Approximately 50 seconds.)
  4. Using Harvest Blend colored M&M's, place a single M&M in the center of the melted candy melt for the flower center.
  5. Now press in the flower petals with contrasting colored M&M's - we used six M&M's for the petals.
  6. Let the Harvest Flower Pretzel Bites fully set up.
  7. Store in an air-tight container.
