Our Cookie Monster Cupcakes were so adorable and so much fun to make. We have all the detailed instructions below in case you want to make them for your own Sesame Street Birthday Party.
How to Make Cookie Monster Cupcakes:
- Blue Cupcake Liners
- Buttercream Frosting (Blue)
- Wilton Frosting Tip #233
- Wilton White Candy Melts
- Mini Chips Ahoy Cookies
- Wilton Black Decorating Icing
We used chocolate cupcakes in blue cupcake liners for our Cookie Monster Cupcakes but you could also bake white cupcakes with blue food coloring added. If you do that you should use white cupcake liners so that the blue cupcakes are visible through the white cupcake liners. It will seem very Cookie Monster-ish.
We started with a thin layer of blue Buttercream Frosting.
Then we started to create the Cookie Monsters’ fur using a Wilton Frosting Tip #233.
Cover the entire top of the Cookie Monster Cupcake with blue cookie monster fur.
The eyes for the Cookie Monster Cupcake are White Candy Melts with the flat side up. We used dots of Black Icing to make the Cookie Monster’s googly eyes.
We tried a lot of different cookies before settling on the Mini Chip Ahoys for Cookie Monster’s mouth. We cut about 1/3 of the cookie off so it would stick better onto the top of the Cookie Monster Cupcake.
Use a knife to cut a small slit, the approximate size of the mini Chips Ahoy cookie, where you want the Cookie Monsters’ mouth to be.
Stick the Chips Ahoy cookie into the frosting to represent the Cookie Monsters’ mouth.
This Cookie Monster Cupcake was adorable and super easy to make. It was also just one of three Sesame Street Cupcakes we created for Allison’s Sesame Street Birthday Party. You might also want to see how we created the Oscar the Grouch Cupcakes and Elmo Cupcakes.
