We have found a wonderful new online source for cookie cutters and you can find them at CookieCutter.com. Shipping was super quick and we love that they are a family owned business just like us! We are happy to be partnering with them to bring our readers fun treats made with their great cookie cutters.
You will need two batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture to make Christmas Wreath Rice Krispie Treats – one red and one green. For each batch of Rice Krispie Treats you will need 4 tablespoons of butter, 4 cups of mini marshmallows and 4 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal.
Melt the butter in a large pan on medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted. Turn off the heat and add the food coloring to color the marshmallow mixture. Add the Rice Krispie Cereal to the colored marshmallow mixture and gently stir until it is completely covered.
Start with a batch of red Rice Krispie Treat mixture. Let the mixture cool just enough so you can work with it with out burning your fingers but warm enough so it is still pliable. Take a small handful of the red mixture and mold it into the bottom “bow” area of the Wreath Cookie Cutter. If the mixture sticks to your hands, rub some butter on them first. As you can see in this picture, I molded the top a bit to make a definition for the bow.
Pop the red “bows” out of the cookie cutter and set them aside to cool. Make enough bows for all of you Christmas Wreath Rice Krispie Treats. I made a dozen bows.
Now make up your Green Rice Krispie Treat mixture. When that is done, pop a red bow back in the Wreath Cookie Cutter. It will fit back in easily. Take a small amount of the Green Rice Krispie Treat mixture and place it in the wreath area of the cookie cutter.
Mold the green mixture into the remaining area of the cookie cutter. Because the green mixture is still warm, it will stick to the red bow.
Using a small round cookie cutter, cut out a hole in the middle of the wreath area.
Finally, embellish the Christmas Wreath Rice Krispie Treat with six red Mini M&M’s. Make sure you do this part while the green Rice Krispie Treat mixture is still warm and sticky or the M&M’s will fall off later.
These Christmas Wreath Rice Krispie Treats are a great Christmas dessert that are as fun to make as they are to eat.
