I found this Starbucks Copycat recipe years ago and we have been making it every holiday season since.  We originally started making this yummy Caramel Apple Cider on Christmas Eve, and then on Christmas morning.  The next year, we thought why not have it on Thanksgiving too?  At our last family get-together, there were rumblings that we should have it at our October family birthday celebration.  Since you just throw the ingredients in the crock pot, stir, and you are done, there is no reason not to have it any time.

How to Make

Apple Cider, Cinnamon Syrup and a Crock pot are the things you need to make Caramel Apple Cider.

The key to Caramel Apple Cider is the Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Syrup.  It is super delicious – sweet and spicy and caramel-y all at the same time.  You can buy it at Starbucks.com, Amazon.com, or sometimes, your local Starbucks for $12.95.   It is a pretty big bottle but if stored in your refrigerator it will last more than a year.  In addition to being the key ingredient in Caramel Apple Cider, it also tastes great in a cup of coffee!

The Caramel Apple Cider couldn’t be easier to make.  Pour a 64 oz. container of Apple Cider or Apple Juice into your crockpot and then add 1 cup of Cinnamon Dolce syrup.  Turn on the crockpot to low and slowly heat the apple cider stirring every 30 minutes or so.  I like to let the apple cider marinate with the syrup for at least a couple of hours but if you don’t have that kind of time you could heat the ingredients on the stove or in the microwave.

Pour the apple cider into a jar and you are all set and it tastes delicious just like this.

For a holiday or special event, we added homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce just like Starbucks!  Hmm … mmmm  good!
