You can make a lot of fun things with pretzels and candy melts … including these spooky Bewitched Pretzel Bites. Sweet, salty, crunchy and delicious and boy with this witch version be a hit at your Halloween party.
How to Make Bewitched Pretzel Bites
You will need:
- Rold Gold Tiny Twists Pretzels
- Wilton Dark Green Candy Melts
- Wilton Dark Cocoa Candy Melts or Chocolate Chips
- Wilton Bright White Candy Melts
- Wilton Lavender Candy Melts
- Plastic Sandwich Bags
- Parchment Paper
First, place 25-30 green Candy Melts in a sandwich bag. Melt the candy melts in the microwave. Start with 30 seconds, open the microwave and then check the candy melts. Massage the melts around in the bag. Then continue to melt at 10 second intervals until they are all completely melted.
Lay out the mini pretzels on a cookie sheet. You can line it with foil, parchment paper or a silpat liner for easier clean-up. Place the mini pretzels at an angle on the cookie sheet as shown in the picture above. We used Rold Gold Tiny Twists for our Bewitched Pretzel Bites, they are a little bigger than the other mini pretzels we saw at our grocery store and we liked that. But this decorating technique will work with any sized pretzel twist.
Snip off a very tiny piece on one of the bottom corners of the plastic sandwich bag. First, squeeze the melted green candy melt mixture into the bottom two holes of the pretzel. After those are filled, cover the full top area of the pretzel as shown in the picture above, this will be the witch’s face.
Now melt the chocolate candy melts. You will use those for the Witch Hat.
Snip of a tiny corner of the sandwich bag and squeeze a line of the melted chocolate across the top of the green you applied for the witch’s face. This will be the brim of the Witch Hat. Now fill in a triangle on the top area of the pretzel, the very tip of the hat will extend out over the pretzel. When the chocolate hardens it will be fused to the top of the pretzel. Allow the chocolate to cool and harden before moving on to the next step.
Finally melt some Dark Cocoa Candy Melts (or a handful of chocolate chips) and a few Wilton Bright White Candy Melts in small bowls. You’ll use this to draw on the Witch face with a toothpick. Add two white dots for the eyes and once that has dried add a tiny dot of chocolate for the eyeball. Then paint on chocolate eyebrows and a mouth. For the big witch nose, we added a mound of the green candy melt mixture.
Finally, melt 15-20 Lavender Candy Melts in a plastic bag as you did before.
Use this to add some curly Witch Hair and a band on the Witch Hat.
The kids will love helping you make these fun Bewitched Pretzel Bites and everyone you know will love to help you eat them – sweet, salty and crunchy. Pretzel Bites are always at hit at our parties.
